Free multiplayer experience on W3D
Red Alert: A Path Beyond is a free action experience from the W3D hub team, built on the Red Alert’s W3D engine. This multiplayer-only game divides participants into the Allied Forces and the Soviet Union. Each player starts from the base and attacks enemy structures. They earn money from attacking, used for purchasing vehicles and upgrading units.
Unlike other games in the franchise, Red Alert: A Path Beyond is a unique and enjoyable fanmade game with its first and third-person perspective. You can also try Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Uprising or the classic Command & Conquer Red Alert.
Carve the path beyond
Red Alert: A Path Beyond is set in an alternate 1950s where World War II never happened. While Einstein has eliminated Hitler, the new world sees Josef Stalin threatening this peaceful version of Germany. A new war then formed between the Allied Forces and the Soviet Union. Now, players get to choose between the firepower of the Soviets or the technological edge of the Allies.
This game combines shooter and real-time strategy elements. Players can choose their role in the war, whether as an infantry unit, an engineer, a medic, or a spy. By completing tasks, you are rewarded with money that you can use to purchase vehicles or unlock additional technologies. Either side also has its respective strengths and weaknesses, such as the Allies having cheaper but weaker tanks.
The main restrictions in this game include the lack of a single-player mode. You can’t play it alone, and it doesn’t have solo campaigns. However, custom co-op maps are available, although they have to be downloaded separately. Additionally, since it was built using the same engine as 2002’s Red Alert Renegade, expect some pretty dated graphics and gameplay controls.
A retro game for friends
If you’re one of the players who used to enjoy old-school LAN games with retro graphics, Red Alert: A Path Beyond is for you. Its premise perfectly fits the Red Alert series and impressively combines different game genres to create a unique experience. As a multiplayer-only game, it has no single-player options to explore. Despite this minor restriction, you should set up a game and invite friends. Recommended.
